SOLAR PANEL INSTALLATION

Buist’s testing and outdoor utilities teams supported the installation of a 2.07 MW solar system for a valued customer. Crews installed a concrete pad for a new pad-mounted transformer, line disconnect switches, and four 800A panelboards. Medium voltage conduit and wiring were provided from the PV transformer to the point of interconnection.

Low voltage work included installing three 4” conduits with 500 kcmil aluminum conductors and ground for four 800A AC combiner panels, mounting the combiners on posts provided by Harvest Solar, and installing 600V wiring from seventeen inverters to their respective breakers. Crews also installed PVC conduits for solar and protective relay equipment. Buist was also responsible for programming the protective relays and performing witness testing to satisfy utility requirements.

The DC installation included over 3,600 feet of 2kV wiring from the combiner boxes to the inverters, with terminations and testing completed. The system was tested, and megger results were provided to confirm installation integrity.
