OUR PROVEN PROCESS

The Buist AV proven process is the culmination of decades of industry experience coupled with best practices from the Audio Visual Experience Association (AVIXA), the Association for Quality in Audio Visual Technologies (AQAV), and the Project Management Institute (PMI) to ensure consistency and quality delivery of AV systems to our clients.

NEEDS ANALYSIS

A Buist AV Solutions Architect collaborates with clients to assess their AV needs within a space or system. This needs analysis is conducted through an in-person or virtual walkthrough of finished spaces, where the architect works with the client to understand end-user expectations. This process is essential for defining the scope of work, shaping the user experience, and ensuring project success.

DESIGN ESTIMATION

Design estimation occurs between the initial needs analysis walkthrough and the client quotation. A Buist Solutions Architect collaborates with manufacturers, distribution partners, and a Buist AV Design Engineer to develop a functional narrative and scope of work that meets user requirements. They then prepare and present an estimate to the client’s main point of contact for review.

APPROVAL

The client’s main point of contact and other stakeholders review the functional narrative, scope of work, and estimate. Approval is granted through the submission of a purchase order for the estimate total. Buist then converts the purchase order and associated documentation into a project.

KICKOFF

A Buist Solutions Architect collaborates with the client’s main point of contact to develop a project plan and schedule a kickoff meeting. The kickoff meeting, held in-person or virtually, outlines the project plan. The project plan sets expectations and defines next steps for successful completion.

ENGINEERING

A Buist AV Design Engineer prepares an AV engineering submittal, including floor plans, wall and rack elevations, and a systems flow diagram. A Buist AV Systems Programmer develops a user interface (UI) design submittal, outlining the tentative control panel design and functionality. A Buist AV Commissioning Engineer creates a network infrastructure planning sheet, detailing all networked AV devices and essential integration information.

STAGING

A Buist Commissioning Engineer stages and tests all AV equipment in a controlled environment. Equipment undergoes functional testing, firmware updates, configuration, and pre-programming. The system is fully tested to meet the functional narrative and scope of work without defects. A commissioning checklist is initiated to ensure a high-quality AV system and experience.

INTEGRATION

Buist AV Technicians arrive onsite to install equipment, perform initial testing, and prepare systems for programming. A Buist AV Systems Programmer completes any required onsite programming. A Buist AV Solutions Architect provides regular updates, reports, and progress photos to ensure clear communication.

COMMISSIONING

A Buist AV Commissioning Engineer works alongside technicians to complete initial system testing. They then conduct a step-by-step performance analysis using the AQAV AV9000 framework to verify system compliance. A Certificate of System Substantial Completion is issued and mutually signed.

TRAINING

After commissioning and punch list completion, Buist prepares a user training guide detailing system operation. The guide supports in-person or remote training for the client and end-users. A Certificate of Equipment and Systems Training is mutually signed.

COMPLETION

All punch list items, commissioning, and training are complete. Final documentation, including the AV engineering as-built drawing, user training guide, and network infrastructure planning sheet, has been submitted. The Certificate of Project Completion has been mutually signed.
