The Communications Technician role is a full-time, non-exempt position that reports directly to the Communications Department Manager and offers the opportunity to work alongside a Lead Technician on the installation of Structured Data Cabling and Fiber Optics infrastructures.

Job Description

Support the installation and maintenance of structured cabling and fiber optic systems while ensuring safety, accuracy, and efficiency on diverse worksites.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safely work at heights, climbing, and maintaining balance on ladders and lifts
  • Lift and carry materials and equipment weighing 50–100 lbs (occasionally more)
  • Measure and cut materials with precision
  • Follow detailed instructions and project guidelines
  • Operate and maintain various hand and power tools effectively
  • Work overtime as required by project demands
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and operate work vehicles/lifts

Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred
  • BICSI Certification preferred (not required)
  • Industry certifications are a plus
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel)
  • Strong attention to detail, timeliness, and problem-solving ability

Work Hours

  • Typically Monday through Friday
  • First shift schedule

Work Conditions

  • Assignments may include new construction sites and occupied work areas
  • Potential exposure to hot and cold environments

Physical Requirements

Frequent lifting, climbing, and use of equipment in varying conditions.
