Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Electrical Testing Project Manager to lead and coordinate electrical power system testing, commissioning, maintenance, and diagnostic projects for utility, industrial, commercial, and institutional customers. The Project Manager will oversee project execution from initiating sales, opportunity development, estimating, and proposal handoff through completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with customer requirements and industry standards. This position serves as the primary liaison between customers, field personnel, engineering teams, subcontractors, and company leadership while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Manage multiple electrical testing and commissioning projects simultaneously
  • Sales focused and work towards development opportunities
  • Develop project schedules, resource plans, and execution strategies
  • Coordinate field personnel, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Monitor project progress and address schedule, budget, and technical challenges
  • Ensure projects are completed efficiently and in compliance with customer specifications
  • Facilitate project kickoff, progress review, and closeout meetings
  • Maintain project documentation, reports, change orders, and customer communications
  • Oversee, manage, and track project financials

 

Customer Relationship Management

  • Serve as the point of contact for internal project managers and assigned customers
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to support long-term business growth
  • Respond to customer inquiries, concerns, and technical requests
  • Identify opportunities for additional services and collaborate with business development efforts
  • Conduct customer site visits and participate in project planning discussions

 

Technical Oversight

  • Provide support regarding electrical power system testing, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and assessment
  • Review test reports, project deliverables, and technical documentation for quality and completeness
  • Ensure work is performed according to industry standards, manufacturer recommendations, and company procedures

 

Safety and Quality Leadership

  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in job hazard analyses, safety reviews, and incident investigations
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, productivity, and risk management

 

Team Leadership

  • Assist with workforce planning and resource allocation
  • Mentor and support team members
  • Participate in recruiting, training, and performance evaluations
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and professional development

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience within electrical power systems, electrical testing, commissioning, construction, industrial services, or related industries
  • Strong understanding of medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical distribution systems
  • Experience managing customer-facing projects and field service personnel
  • Knowledge of electrical safety practices and regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software
  • Ability to travel as required to customer sites

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field
  • Certifications from NETA, NICET, or OEM organizations
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Experience with power system studies, commissioning, maintenance testing, relay testing, transformer testing, breaker testing, cable testing, or power quality investigations
  • Experience in industrial, utility, data center, healthcare, commercial, or mission-critical facilities

Work Hours

  • Hours are typically Monday through Friday
  • Hours are typically 1st shift

Work Conditions

  • Typically working in a temperature-controlled environment
  • Regular travel to customer job sites as required
