PURCHASING AGENT

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for procuring materials efficiently while ensuring quality and value through established procedures and purchasing best practices.

Duties and Responsibilities

Purchase materials and products for project managers and foremen as requested, utilizing ethical purchasing practices and competitive, qualified bid-day quotations
Maintain strong relationships with vendors and stay informed on electrical products and industry developments
Collaborate with estimators and project managers throughout the bidding process
Work with warehouse team to coordinate product deliveries and inventory stock
Work with accounts payable to ensure timely invoice processing and monitor payment terms
Resolve material backorders, damages, and losses to ensure appropriate reimbursement or replacement

Qualifications

Required qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong organization, multitasking, and communication skills
Preferred qualifications
- 5+ years of electrical trade experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Proficient experience in researching and analyzing cost
- Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement

Work Hours

Hours are typically Monday through Friday
Hours are typically first shift
Typically a 45-hour work week

Work Conditions

Typically working in a temperature-controlled warehouse environment
Occasional work outside, potentially in inclement weather

Physical Requirements

Ability to operate standard office equipment
Occasionally standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility
