TRINITY HEALTH MEDICAL CENTER – SHERMAN PAVILION

Muskegon, MI

Buist Electric’s contracting department assisted Kasco Construction in the complete renovation of the Trinity Health Medical Center – Sherman Pavilion 2nd floor located in Muskegon. Trinity Health recently merged with Mercy Health St. Mary’s. Since the merger, company-wide updates have been implemented, including changes to facility aesthetics. The recent renovation to the 2nd floor was the first construction project since the merger and the newly renovated space now serves as Trinity’s flagship facility.

The renovation consisted of adding 41 exam rooms, procedure rooms, nurse stations, offices, and a few conference spaces. As a result of the renovations, new power, lighting, controls, fire alarms, and data cabling had to be installed. Throughout construction, the first floor remained open to patients. This required Buist to take on off-shift hours, however, the team was able to complete this project in just 8 months.

A unique aspect of this project includes the installation of a Myers Emergency Power System – a backup power system that can reduce the need for a large generator due to its single cabinet design. The low noise it produces ensures patients and staff won’t be disturbed, making it a perfect fit. In addition, Buist was involved in installing a unique lighting fixture in the entryway which had to be meticulously hung. The Buist team is proud to have been part of a project that will bring healing to so many!
