Buist served as the electrical contractor for the new Corewell Health Orthopedic Center. This four-story, approximately 130,000 sq.ft. facility brings together state-of-the-art orthopedic surgery, post-surgical care, and injury recovery services under one roof.
As a Design Assist partner to Whiting-Turner, Buist provided comprehensive pre-construction, construction, and closeout services. The project was also supported by BIM coordination throughout the design and build phases.
The facility includes exam rooms, orthopedic physician offices, physical therapy areas, and advanced rehabilitation environments such as indoor and outdoor turf fields, a motion analysis lab, and image-guided treatment rooms.
Buist’s Contracting, Outdoor Utilities, and Testing departments were involved in the success of the project. The electrical scope included installation of all power and lighting systems, featuring 2,900 light fixtures, transformers, conduit, wire, communications/data infrastructure, raceways, and the on-site generator. Full system testing was performed, including acceptance testing and an arc flash study.
Construction began in August 2022 with material procurement, and the contract was completed in October 2024.
