Buist Electric’s Service, Testing, and Outdoor Utilities departments were involved in the expansion of the PSG Blackmer Manufacturing Plant expansion, located in downtown Grand Rapids. Construction of the 56,000 sq.ft. expansion began in March 2022 and consisted of relocating certain areas of the previous manufacturing plant in order to enhance warehouse flow from start to finish. More warehouse space was also added to include upgraded employee amenities which included locker and break rooms.
Currently the site manufactures Blackmer pumps incorporated with rotor technology. However,
PSG Blackmer hopes to enter new markets such as gear pumps for oil and gas industries in addition to expanding their manufacturing capabilities, as a result of the expansion.
Despite material delays, Buist team members were able to accomplish the job by utilizing temporary panels while feeding equipment. This shows Buist’s commitment to excellence and care for customers.
The new PSG Blackmer plant will create 54 new jobs as a result of the expansion, and Buist Electric is thankful to be a part of a project that will provide so many jobs for the surrounding community. Construction wrapped up in July 2023 however, Buist is still onsite to help with wiring equipment and workstations.
